Our Philosophy on Transparency

At Blackhorse Psychiatry, we believe patients deserve clarity and fairness when it comes to the cost of care. We are a small, independently owned practice — not a large corporate clinic — and all treatment is provided directly by a board-certified psychiatrist. Below you will find straightforward information about our fees and insurance policies.

Rates

Initial Psychiatric Evaluation

  • 60–75 minutes

  • Comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning

  • $450

Follow-Up / Medication Management Visits

  • 25–30 minutes: $225

  • 45–50 minutes (extended): $375

Therapy Add-On Sessions

  • If medication management visits are combined with supportive or psychotherapy, additional time may be billed at the extended rate.

Payment is due at the time of service. We accept all major credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and contactless payment methods.

Insurance & Reimbursement

  • Out-of-Network Provider: Blackhorse Psychiatry does not participate directly with insurance plans.

  • Reimbursement Support: We provide detailed superbills (itemized receipts with diagnosis and billing codes) that you may submit to your insurance company for possible partial reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits.

  • Medicare/Medicaid: We are not enrolled with Medicare or Medicaid at this time.

  • Flexible Spending Accounts: Many patients use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for visits.

Why Out-of-Network?

Remaining independent and out-of-network allows us to:

  • Offer longer, more personalized visits.

  • Maintain confidentiality without unnecessary insurance restrictions.

  • Focus on patient-centered care, rather than high-volume quotas.

Cancellation Policy

We ask that patients provide at least 24 business hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be billed at the full session rate.
